Play Local 5 Edition 12 – Accepting the new normal

Sporforya 5

Hello everyone and welcome to a new edition of Play Local 5, which was previously known as SPORFORYA5. This is a result of some rebranding that we went through. If some of us are new, then let me introduce our project. Play Local features a round-up of 5 sports providers and facilities around Southern California who are doing an excellent job at providing the residents with a safe place to channel their inner athlete.

This week we are focusing on facilities that are accommodating with the new normal and have tweaked their policies to welcome you all. All the 5 sports providers are dealing with the pandemic quite efficiently and working day and night to provide you all with the ultimate best!

First, up for this week, we have Suzie Dods Swim Coaching Services, run by a brilliant swimmer herself, Suzie Dods. She has been an accomplished open water swimmer since she was 14 years old. A few years down the lane, she was able to turn her hobby into a full-fledged business where she was taking clients and teaching them with passion.

She has some affordable packages listed on her website, where she takes one client at a time and devotes her full attention to them. She can either teach you in your home pool or she can take you to one of the pools in the locality!

Next up, we have the Los Angeles Athletics Club who has a killer fitness facility with a hundred percent state of the art equipment and excellent coaches to help you out. Right now they are only open to existing members to ensure that they don’t have a huge group present at one time.

They are also checking temperatures at arrival and their dining area is off-limits for now. If a member wants to take in their spouse and kids with them, ensure that you register them via a call beforehand as no walk-ins are allowed.

Our third pick for this week is the Seal Beach Volleyball Club, established in 1992. Volleyball is one such game that you can play anywhere with social distancing. Not only that but it is extremely fun to play and promotes teamwork.

The seal beach volleyball club is a Southern California based junior training program for girls in between 12 to 18 years. They believe in honesty, integrity, and good sportsmanship, therefore, it is safe to say that they are an excellent bunch of people!

Burn Sparrow Pilates is our next local dance provider, which was established in 2007. They have one on one private sessions and also group online classes. You can opt for either one and sign up for them on their website.

All their online classes are streamed live on Zoom so you can join in and enjoy a master class without any equipment or prior experience. The founder Holly Furgason tailors pilates lessons according to a different body and their needs as well, therefore, if you can join them if you have any medical condition as well. All in all, they have a wholesome team and you should check them out if you are looking for local pilates lessons!

We are going to close this week with Long Beach Patriots, which is a junior soccer training center. Their season starts in September so this is the perfect time to enroll your child in one of their programs. They are located at long beach poly high school and Chittick Field.

Their objective is to teach a diverse set of kids all the fundamental values that make them a good teammate and an athlete. They pride themselves on being incredibly inclusive and non-judgemental.

That’s all for this week, folks. If you liked this edition of Play Local don’t forget to rate us down below and leave your feedback in the comments section. We also take requests, therefore, if you want us to introduce your favorite provider next week, hit us up!

Until next time,

Marium (Team Sporforya)
