So you have finally decided to start working out? Good for you. You have taken the right step. However, you are not sure when is the best time of the day to workout?

Let’s make one thing clear, it’s going to be difficult in the beginning, not going to lie. But once you get used to it, you will feel amazing.

You just need to get past the beginning phase, and you will love every minute of your workout. So what is the best time to workout? Morning, afternoon or in the evenings?

Benefits of a morning workout

If you are looking to lose fat and weight, this would be the ideal time. Exercising on an empty stomach means using the body fat to push through the workout and thus resulting in burning that extra fat.

Morning workouts also help you start afresh, energetic and also helps to change your body clock to an earlier time. Meaning, you will feel more alert in the morning, and by the time it is evening, you will feel tired and hit the bed early, and thus this becomes your daily cycle.

However, if you are not a morning person, you may see that you are not really pushing yourself enough and thus not spending enough energy. This may not be a good time to workout then.

Benefits of an afternoon workout

Afternoon workouts give you a boost, because, by the time you hit the gym, you have had 2-3 meals already.

Eating increases the blood sugar levels, which in the form of blood glucose, is needed if you want to work out a higher intensity.

And hey, not everyone is a morning person. It may be difficult for you to wake up early morning. If that is the case, avoid going to the gym at that time.

Take your time and hit the gym in the afternoon followed by a protein/carbs rich lunch to supplement your workout.

This way you will also stop eating all those sugar-rich food you get be it at the office or at school – a nice way to reduce your fat intake as well.

It is better to workout when you feel good and energetic; this way you make the most of your time.
